the survival of any tv shows depend on its ratings,

on how many viewers are watching the show and the advertisers that place commercials or sponsorship

some tv shows would run for at least 13 weeks or one season or less and some would have gone to at least a year of existence on tv

and most fortunate are those that stayed for more than years

and yes! there are tv shows that lasted more than a decade and remains on-air to this day!

or by far, these are the longest-running shows on tv! save for eat... bulaga! and tv patrol

startalk, saksi, bubble gang and asap all started on 1995 and are now celebrating its 20th year!

except startalk that at the same time is having its final episode to give way to a new format

now, let me take a trip down memory lane of these four formidable tv shows that has defied the tests of time

gossip show that aired intially on a sunday timeslot that was directly pitted to showbiz linggo of abs-cbn

the orginal hosts; controversial talent manager lolit solis along with late night talk show host of gma-7, boy abunda

and kris aquino, when at that time she was controversial because of her love affair with philip salvador that was highly publicized

how can anyone forget and forgo tito boy's magic mirror? and the twenty -year veteran manay lolit's alok-bati segment?

in the last 20 years! it's as if her main task on the show to appear on-cam for acknowledging dozen of personalities and products on her long list,

amazingly that somehow she manages to greet all (toungue-twister style!)

and then after a year, kris left the show to pursue on a solo hosting stint at abs-cbn

boy abunda and lolit solis remain and dawn zulueta replaced kris aquino

the most surprising move of the show was when rosanna roces, leading lady of bold movies, became one of the startalk hosts on 1998

and then rosanna even requested for a sunday off because it's a family day

on 1999, startalk exchanged timeslot with another gma-7 showbiz-orriented show ETChing with lyn ching and paolo bediones

and then ETChing becomes s-files on a sunday timeslot

the following year, boy abunda left the show to host his own showbiz-orriented talkshow on abs-cbn, the buzz!

he was replaced by butch francisco, former host of showbiz linggo, and the show went so well during that time

on 2004 the show suffered from controversy from an mtrcb suspension to a word war between rosanna roces and lolit solis

later on, joey de leon and lorna tolentino joined the show to replace rosanna roces

joey de leon adding a bit much needed jolt to a mismash

the show celebrated its 10th year on 2005

and a commemorative magazine that features all startalk hosts on its cover was released to celebrate its decade run on tv

there was also a seamless segment, a live turn-over between eat.. bulaga! and startalk

where hosts of eat...bulaga has to do their closing spiels while the hosts of startalk to do their opening spiels

heart evangelista was the last female host of startalk
