the main celebration of the 117th philippine independence commenced at the town of santa barbara in ilo-ilo city yesterday!
the town of santa barbara served as the base of the revolution forces in visayas area, where the first philippine flag raised outside luzon
the visayas leg of revolution was led by general martin delgado who is best known as teacher and later on as chief general of the liberation army
and the leader of the revolution against the spaniards in ilo-ilo during the cry of santa barbara
where the proclamation of philippine independence in visayas was uphold
fast forward, pnoy led the 117th philippine independence celebration in the historical town of santa barbara
in front of santa barbara church that served as the headquarters of revolutionaries in 1898
a day before the celebration, at the rehearsal for the flag ceremony led by the philippine marines with some of the officials of national historic commission,
a portion of the flag was seen stuck at the 36-meter flagpole
according to teddy atienza of national historic commission, they replaced it with another flag and the flagpole was immediately restored
we aired that story on aksyon tonite as well as the story of roices naguit on pnoy's activities a day before the celebration of independence day,
where pnoy unveiled the street markers that were named after his famous parents
but we're expecting words from pnoy on his endorsement to dilg secretary mar roxas to become the standard bearer of liberal party for the 2016 elections
well it's obvious, because in his speech during the flag raising event, pnoy gave a less subtle praises to mar roxas and his accomplishments
