The Making of Kubli

THE MAKING OF KUBLI
-ryandgreat, malate manila

as final requirement for film 101, we produced a shortfilm that was an official entry to the annual pelikuLetran,

the short film festival of colegio de san juan de letran

our works include an actual pre and post-production and marketing of the film

the title of our short film is Kubli

i'll share some highlights during our filming:

-our first shooting day coincides with the ultra stampede of wowowee
-interior location was shot at the home of jay-r in san andres bukid, manila

-it was shot at their music room that served as our studio

-we've improvised everything, including the bedroom!

-we did not have any exterior scenes

-the first scene that we shot is the love scene of the male characters!

-many of our shooting dates were moved to cancelled

-the presinto scene was shot at manila police district in sta. ana manila!

-our theology professor did a cameo appearance

-joan natividad is the girl on the silhouette scene (no it's not the rape scene!)

-i am the only member of the group who made crossover from another production

-we spent time together at starbuxx during cancelled shoot

-our final editing coincides with the coup attempt incident in fort bonifacio

THE PRODUCTION NAME

DECEMEBER 2005

IndieMand productions was conceptualized under CA4Cinema Indipendiente – a CA4C productions.

THE STORY

DECEMEBER 2005

started during a coffee break at Starbucks Intramuros on 19th December. 
it was conceptualized by Cheska Carlos, Julius Encarnacion and Lady Libiran.

THE PRE-PRODUCTION

FIRST WEEK OF JANUARY 2006

the actual pre-production started when sir J.P Carandan approved the first draft of our script on 5th January

SECOND WEEK OF JANUARY

planning stage of production design, location, settings and wardrobe

THIRD WEEK OF JANUARY

in line for the Midterm Examination, we submitted a Pre- Production book consisting of the General Breakdown, the over-all breakdown of budget, story board, floor plan, the first draft of script, the sequence guide and a DV tape of the recorded screening / casting call

we held a special casting call not limited to Colegio de San Juan de Letran’s students.

FOURTH WEEK OF JANUARY

budget allocation for the promotions and budget for the production, for the food and others

each member contributed P4,500 to mount all the expenses for PelikuLetran, including the promotions and for the production itself

the casting call we held on 25th January.

THE SHOOTING

FIRST WEEK OF FEBRUARY

we proceeded to our first shooting on 4th february. before the shooting day, we spent a day to arrange and set-up the props and materials for the first few scenes. it was an indoor shoot at Jay-r’s house.

we were not able to finish the second shooting day on 5th february due to lack some technical stuff and we've encountered problems during the shooting itself

SECOND WEEK OF FEBRUARY

the shooting day is on 10th february but we postponed it due to conflict of schedules of our talents

sir jp had first preview of raw footage materials on 8th february. comments have been taken into consideration to to improve the some scenes

THIRD WEEK OF FEBRUARY

our very last shooting day was on 15th february where we squeezed everything in one shooting day

POST PRODUCTION AND PROMOTIONS

FOURTH WEEK OF FEBRUARY

editing took place on 17th and 18th february and finalized on 
26th february

while on post production, group led by madz started promotions and went to room-to-room campaign to sell tickets to various students of letran.

SCREENING

FIRST WEEK OF MARCH

since motorcade was canceled, we went on to our final preview 
on 27th february

March 1 | screening of kubli
28th february when we had our first screening. all our venues, our 6 showings for that day had overwhelming results.

we earned almost P4,800 for the ticket sales that day. we gave away pins and stickers.

the second day we got same results but our sales went down to P2,000 only

the last day of showing was 2nd march it was a jam-packed day, we had filled in all our venues for the 6 rounds of the screening and earning a total of more than P4,000

we even have to cut the price of our tickets to boost more sale. on the last day we also gave 100 ball pens, stickers and calendars.

we're nominated but did not win .. its the experience of the entire production of doing this short film that's a rewarding experience already!
