last night, i've accepted an award in behalf of a good pren and colleague,
the good boy of the philippines! and news5 reporter, mon gualvez!
he's the kapisanan ng mga broadkaster sa pilipinas or kbp golden dove award winner for best field radio reporter for this year
and to accept his trophy on his behalf, means so much to me, i just don't know how much that means to him hahaha
kidding aside! i'm only too happy and at the same time proud of him!

but we've worked together closely on his own segment for the morning newscast of tv5,
i can't remember each, but it lasted for years!!!
but more than that, i've known him for a long time, we're church mates,
he's lector at shrine of jesus at the mall of asia complex, where we religiously attend sunday mass
but it was only in 2011 that we get to know each other, as work mate in tv5!
i first worked on his live report during the height of the murder of ramgen revilla on october 2011 i think that was also one of his memorable news stories!
and eventually, we worked together on many, top stories and live reports

i pioneered that segment on its maiden with ina zara and laila chikadora,
and later on it was given solely to mon gualvez as part of the all-male reformatted version of the morning show with martin andanar and erwin tulfo
and now several news5 reporters are taking part of it

i've also had the good fortune to work with them all in that segment,
i'll try to write something about the behind-the-scenes of it in the near future!

early that day, we're instructed to do live report for showbiz reporter ann cabral! for aksyon tonite
the program has just started when we arrived
and i was looking for mon gualvez, i knew of his nomination, i called him, but unfortunately he's out-of-town for a news coverage
i can't remember what he said, but i uttered to him that he might win this! simply because i felt, he has the strongest of chance!
our boss, mam luchi cruz-valdes, who was not also present during the awards night, was hailed as the best radio public service host
one of her staff went on-stage on behalf of her, and then kuya mac, our dng operator, took photo of me with that trophy at the red carpet
little did i know, that i'll get up on-stage to receive a trophy for mon gualvez!
when his name was called i referred ann cabral to go up on-stage but she refused and right away i became the unofficial representative! hahaha
unprepared! and i was not perfectly poised for that but i proceeded anyway
the presenter for that particular award was abs-cbn newscaster karen davila,
first thing i did to tell her that mon gualvez is not around because she's already giving me a warm congratulations! hahaha
but to be completely honest, i truly enjoyed that moment, to stepped up on that same podium where coco martin accepts the same trophy! hahaha
and i also feel incredibly proud to share the stage with some of the biggest names in the broadcast industry that i looked up to
it's also kind of a big deal for me because i used to watch this programs on tv when i was a little kid!
because i'm rooting for tita mel tiangco and frontpage to win!

and to good boy! mon gualvez congratulations on your achievement! talent wise, yes you are a genuine good reporter!
it takes a lot of hard work to have that, and i, for one, have seen that!
and you truly deserve to have more!!! this could take you to somewhere else, you know what i mean :)
