JournaLIST

JournaLIST
-ryandgreat, makati city

this first semester of junior year is a writing season!

there are subjects for writing in various discipline,

broadcasting (writing for radio) and
print (news and feature writing)

and that will favor heavily to those who wants to be a journalist!

perhaps it's therefore appropriate that i've already started my own blog last month and this entry is a follow-up! (not bad for a beginner)

my inclination in writing is limited to stuff from tv that attracts me more than news and essay writing

although i grew-up reading peoples journal (elementary) and the philippine daily inquirer (high school)

and now newsbreak but more on watching frontpage: ulat ni mel tiangco and saksi!

in short, writing for print isn't my cup of tea!

and last week, i had an incredible opportunity to attend the prestigious annual
Jaime V. Ongpin journalism seminar and awarding

organized by the center for media freedom and responsibility held at the asian institute of management in makati

it was attended by students (mostly communication and journalism) of various universities in manila

we've had the chance to meet some of the well-known journalists in our country

and some of the familiar names that i've known (i've read) tj burgonio of inquirer and miriam grace go, aries rufo of newsbreak and yvette chua of pcij where they shared their experiences and their stories

and that's a great start! and also i've the entire semester to learn the techniques of news writing for print and refine my ehem, writing skills!
