RECOVERS
-ryandgreat, powerplant mall

the rise of piracy has affected many of our opm artists and their albums in the past years!

i want to believe that it has recovered! this year! the rise of singing champs on tv, sarah geronimo, eric santos and christan bautista and so many opm bands!

gary valenciano's pure heart album released this year and reached platinum mark after few months

with his popular song  how did you know, that was also a theme song of a box-office movie this year

the come back album of regine velasquez, a revival album aptly titled covers that reached the platinum mark 3 days after its release

according to viva records

Viva Records

also the theme song of gma-7's soap opera starring regine, ariel rivera and richard gomez

the album also include 2 hidden tracks, an acoustic version of dadalhin and ang aking awitin

aside from bonus tracks, there's also a bonus video CD! that contains music videos

with the hit single fallin' and ang pinakamagang lalake written and performed by janno himself , that turned gold recently

Diffuclt Week, Physical Weak

DIFFICULT WEEK, PHYSICAL WEAK
-ryandgreat

it's been a difficult week! that makes me physically weak,

it's the exhaustion and the burden of the hell semester and the life of an incoming 4th year college student!

my body is crying out for help and we're few days ahead to another semester!

August 2004 | Writing for Print seminar (photo: Norbeto Bana III)

i'm the class president in two different classes on top of my responsibilities as officer in our school organization and a student

perhaps the biggest challenge would be the thesis proposal and communication theories

plus to memorize all these laws of mass media!

and that means a lot of reading and more time at the library! syet! ang boring!

and there shouldn't be signs of slowing down

but there's no reason not to attend to our weekly starbuxx sessions known as chismisan with my peyborit prens!

Songs From Home

SONGS FROM HOME
-ryandgreat, makati city

on this day, exactly a year ago, the popular taiwanese boy band, f4 invaded manila for a concert!

and on this same day last year, lea salonga returned for a special concert, a tribute to original pilipino music at the picc plenary hall, and we're there!

i'm posting this because, aside from watching that concert over f4! i've also scored 100 points! for a press release task in one of my writing class!

going back to that concert! the repertoire include some of the most beautiful opm songs then and now, pagdating ng panahon, salamat musika, hahanapin ko

lea also sang a string of medley popularized by basil valdez, ryan cayabyab, regine velasquez and sharon cunteta

Watched and Heard

WATCHED AND HEARD
-ryandgreat, intramuros, manila

we watched feng shui at sm manila, (my first time ever at sm cinema!)

and that movie wasn't a bad sign at all!

in fact i enjoyed it and i've seen it twice! (yesterday with pao, jays and  then last week with julius, lady, jr)

i'm not a horror flick fan but boy this resurrects the 90's shake, rattle and roll memories of kris aquino,

aswang of lot lot de leon and ilonah jean (90's kids you should know who they are!)

some of the most ridiculous scenes had me in stitches especially that scene of ate lot lot de leon's year of the horse, oh she really deserves an award!

and lastly did you hear our names were called on the airwaves?

yes we've been greeted by some popular dj's of various fm radio stations in the metropolis!

not long ago, i had an incredible opportunity to visit these radio stations

my mission is to promote our advertising convention that's Adspeak to some if not possibly, ALL the radio stations

i proceeded to furnish copy of my script, three radio stations, one after another, all at the same time and place!

that's the cool thing about radio stations! most of them are located in one place so it wasn't that difficult to pay visits at these radio stations

however, the most incredible part, is to see, in person, these amazing, witty, articulate and rambunctious voices on the airwaves!

and to experience its live broadcast yes, it's cool!

i'd like to thank these radio stations and the staff for accommodating us, to:

Jam 88.3, Wave 89.1 and DWKC 93.1 in pasig,
101.9 Yes FM, 90.7 love Radio in pasay
and the good folks at magic 89.9 and 99.5RT in mandaluyong

maraming, maraming salamat

JournaLIST

JournaLIST
-ryandgreat, makati city

this first semester of junior year is a writing season!

there are subjects for writing in various discipline,

broadcasting (writing for radio) and
print (news and feature writing)

and that will favor heavily to those who wants to be a journalist!

perhaps it's therefore appropriate that i've already started my own blog last month and this entry is a follow-up! (not bad for a beginner)

my inclination in writing is limited to stuff from tv that attracts me more than news and essay writing

although i grew-up reading peoples journal (elementary) and the philippine daily inquirer (high school)

and now newsbreak but more on watching frontpage: ulat ni mel tiangco and saksi!

in short, writing for print isn't my cup of tea!
the Lance
July 7, 2004 | communication department of Letran at Jaime V. Ongpin seminar
(photo: the Lance)

and last week, i had an incredible opportunity to attend the prestigious annual
Jaime V. Ongpin journalism seminar and awarding

organized by the center for media freedom and responsibility held at the asian institute of management in makati

it was attended by students (mostly communication and journalism) of various universities in manila

we've had the chance to meet some of the well-known journalists in our country

and some of the familiar names that i've known (i've read) tj burgonio of inquirer and miriam grace go, aries rufo of newsbreak and yvette chua of pcij where they shared their experiences and their stories

and that's a great start! and also i've the entire semester to learn the techniques of news writing for print and refine my ehem, writing skills!

First Time

FIRST TIME
-ryandgreat, intramuros, manila

hellow blogger! i am your new pren! and i'm blogging for the first time! what should i wirte? hmmm for now i'd like to share my recent first time

i casted my vote in the recently concluded 2004 national elections for the first time!

and also i've participated as namfrel volunteer for the quick count

finally i've the voice! i've the choice!

and i am committed to choose and protect what's right for the country

it feels mature having that "obligation"

@ryandgreat
May 2004 | my NAMFREL i.d
i voted ping lacson for president,

i also voted for first timers bong revilla, dick gordon, frank chaves, mar roxas and jamby madriga

while i am not interested in the local politics so i put names of celebrities rainier castillo, alesandra de rossi, and jolina magdangal

just to fill-in blank spaces

and another first time was last summer i passed my mathematics class, since college!

i'm blogging because as part of our writing class (wriitng for broadcast and print)

we're required to keep a journal with the rise of technology, i think this form is quite appropriate

what topics should i write? stuff from school is quite boring and my personal life is boring as well

let's see how i'll respond to this challenge in the coming days, comments and suggestions are most welcome!
